Large Vintage Green Canvas Ridge Tent 3m x 2m, UK Scout shop, with extended fly

  

A lovely, large, heavy-duty Ridge Scout Tent made by'Scout Shop Great Britain', with additional extended flysheet. Main tent with sewn-in vinyl groundsheet.

Full (delightfully mismatched) peg set. Full set of strong guy lines. All metal poles in good strong order one length has springy bits inside, so perhaps they all did once?

We have always just pushed them together which is just as easy and as strong so much stronger than the poles for modern tents! The tent itself can be used with or without the additional flysheet; which provides extra protection in severe weather conditions. Both the inner flysheet and the additional outer are made of a good strong green canvas. The additional (outer) flysheet has also recently been re-waterproof with 5 litres of Fabsil, and the rain beads just roll off it. There are a couple of areas of not-perfectness to note.

One oblong patch to the right rear side of the flysheet. This is about 6" x 1" and is of the matching canvas.

It has been excellently done by somebody skilled with a sewing machine, and doesn't detract at all (picture 8). The groundsheet has one repair in the front right-hand corner where it attaches to the tent wall. The vinyl had come away a little, so has had thick gaffa tape fixed with strong flexible glue and then stitched over to re-join the canvas and groundsheet together. This repair is admittedly slightly less pretty (see picture) but more importantly, is super-strong (picture 9). There is also one small brownish maybe rust?

Stain to the flysheet on the front left side (picture 10). It secures down really well, with lots of pegging points. You get a decent nights sleep, because the double layer of thick green canvas means its darker inside, and also warmer in cold weather and cooler in the heat, compared to modern tents. I found it quick and easy to put up after the first time which was always going to be a guessing game with no instructions! We have just converted our van, so now this fabulous tent is looking for a new home.
