Anyone who knows about these tents will know that they are like rocking horse doodah and don't come up for sale very often. This is an eight person Mountain Base Camp tent. These take a real heavy weather battering and still stand up.

Only ever had light use for family holidays under our ownership. Comes with a footprint and a load of spare pole sections (worth a few quid in themselves). It is the version with two zip out sections in the groundsheet.

When i put it up to take the pictures I was reminded about what a well-built tent this is. Along the way noticed a few foibles which you need to be aware of. Poles were cleaned, lubricated and re-corded with new elastic after last use.

The elastic is a bit slack on some of the poles, so needs a bit pulling through and re-tying. The blue poles have a permanent bend in them on a couple of sections. Results in a slight bulge to the sides when put up.

You could use the spare poles to remedy this if it bothers you. One of the yellow pole sleeves has an internal snag on it at one of the hoops. I have marked the affected sleeve and if you pass the pole in from the white tape side it goes in fine. One of the zips on the smaller side doors is faulty.

This is marked with yellow tape and I think that using the other zipper on that door still worked fine. It never bothered us because there are three more doors to use. Groundsheet could do with re-proofing (and possibly re-sealing). I only noticed this today when we put it up without the footprint. Also a couple of patches which were on it when we bought it.

Slight fade and some discolouration as shown on the pictures. You can see the full extent of fade on the photo where the cord flap is. For comparison, I have got a 20+ year old Terra Nova Quasar in the same colour, far more faded and still waterproof. Top sheet is a bit grubby in places.

The seam seals on the topsheet seem to be intact. They are not perfect, but far better than on my other tents which still keep the weather out. Probably would benefit from the topsheet re-proofing too. We last used it 3 years ago, and bought it second-hand a few years before that.
